Vancouver's Neighbourhoods

The following neighbourhoods are some of the areas our cycle tours run through. For more information please use the navigation menu on the left and select the area in which you are interested.

West End

Between the downtown core and Stanley Park is a residential area known as the West End - considered by many to be one of the most densely populated centres in the world. The West End in home to English Bay, also known as First Beach. This area has many fabulous ethnic restaurants and very eclectic shopping areas. Cycling is a main form of transportation through out the West End and English Bay.

Downtown

During the day Vancouver's downtown peninsula is full of people biking, kayaking, shopping, enjoying the cafes, or just strolling along the waterfront seawall. At night Vancouver's entertainment district comes to life as the many theatres, nightclubs and bars open and people converge form all over the city to have fun.

Strathcona - Commercial Drive

Strathcona has always been known as Vancouver's most cosmopolitan neighbourhood. This area contains many revitalized areas including Commercial Drive - called 'the Drive" by the locals. This area is home to many fabulous restaurants, shops and open air markets. The Adanac Bikeway runs through Strathcone as it connects False Creek and Downtown Vancouver with the Francis/Union bike route in Burnaby.

Kitsilano - Fourth Avenue

Long considered one of the city's trendiest shopping and dining districts, Kitsilano's West 4th Avenue is Vancouver at its most genuine and down to earth a place to relax and explore. It's a vibrant neighbourhood shopping area with a unique collection of one-of-a-kind shops, niche boutiques, sports stores and restaurants.

Fairview - South Granville

Fairview, aptly named as the views are one of the big attractions to this neighbourhood, especially from the slopes of 7th and 8th Avenue. Home to Vancouver General Hospital, BC Cancer Agency and several other medical institutions. West Broadway is a key thoroughfare, providing the main link through the area as well as numerous stores and restaurants. The major shopping attraction here though is Granville St -known to the locals as South Granville.

Shaughnessy

Shaughnessy is Vancouver's "grand old neighbourhood." This area was originally developed in the early 1900's. Old Shaughnessy, North of King Edward Avenue, was land granted to the CPR by the federal government as an enticement to extend the railway to the West Coast. The neighbourhood was subsequently extended to areas South of King Edward Avenue in the 1920s. The Midtown Bikeway runs through Shaughnessy past VanDusen Gardens out to UBC and the trails of Pacific Spirit Park.
